Is July 23, opening game between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers. As a way to go with the mainstream (protesting for everything and supporting the leftist movement “Black Live Matters”) both teams had decided to kneel disrespectfully during the national anthem. Both teams bowed to a mud idol. All the players knelt, except one. Sam Coonrod, a 27-year-old San Francisco team pitcher with well-grounded moral and religious convictions, remained standing.
Sam knew that by standing, he was declaring war on a left-wing machinery (artists, enterprises, athletes, politicians, religious leaders and other Marxist movements disguised as human rights…). However, Sam decided to remain firm, as a form of counter-protest by the BLM and all that this implies.
Asking Sam why he was standing, he replied, “I’m a Christian. So I just believe that I can’t kneel before anything besides God.”. He also added,“I just can’t get on board with a couple things I’ve read about Black Lives Matter, how they lean towards Marxism,” he continued. “And … they said some negative things about the nuclear family. I just can’t get on board with that.”
This is a sample of what an upright Christian must do in the face of the wave of secularism, liberalism and relativism that wants to drown us.
Sam knew that being consistent with God and religious principles implies declaring war on everything else. He also knew that he was going to be attacked, defamed, and even put on the bench (if not to lose his job) for putting God and his principles above what “people say”.
Congratulations Sam Coonrod! You have integrity and you are very brave! You are an example for many! I can only tell you that:
“you are like the rock that the waves keep crashing over. It stands unmoved and the rage of the sea falls still around it.”- Marcus Aurelius
